This welcoming four-week class is designed for anyone curious about painting and looking for a supportive place to begin. Foundations of Painting introduces the essential skills that help artists understand how paintings are built—from observing shapes and values to working with color and paint.

Through demonstrations and guided practice, students will learn how to approach a painting step by step, gaining confidence with materials, brushwork, and simple painting techniques. The class focuses on helping beginners develop a clear understanding of how to see their subject and translate it onto the canvas.

While no prior painting experience is required, some drawing experience is extremely helpful, as the ability to observe and describe form is an important part of the painting process.
